Wrinkles- metamorphosis of our skin

Unfortunately, we cannot have a magical mirror in life with a push button that reflects every change of us from day to day, year to year, down to the most millimeter parts of our body. The only mirror with which we look ourselves day by day is the mirror of our body skin. With this metamorphosis of ours we understand the changes, the transformations, we experience our fears, the feelings of the years and the passage of stages. The aging phase is one of the phases that scares most people and wrinkles are an important indication of age. Over time the skin loses layers of fat, the production of collagen and elastin slows down. So this is a process that occurs naturally with age. Wrinkles happen on the parts that our body gets the most exposure including the face, neck, the backs of the hands and the tops of the forearms. The first wrinkles begin to appear when the skin begins to fold naturally during facial expressions such as smiling, frowning or facial wrinkles features.

Some of the factors that can promote wrinkles are:

  • Sun exposure
  • Smoking
  • Dehydration
  • Skin Type (especially people with light-colored skin and blue eyes)
  • Repeated facial expressions
  • Heredity (genetic factor)

We cannot stop the wrinkles but we can try to prevent them, using some wrinkle treatments:

  • Regularly using some anti- aging products, such as night creams or eye creams and different products that we can use in two categories: the ones that treat and prevent wrinkles and the others that just minimize their appearance.
  • Using Vitamin A acid (Tretinoin, Retin A, Renoval)
  • Alpha-hydroxyl acids called as ‘Fruit acids’ that include glycolic and lactic acid
  • Antioxidants (that include Vitamin A, C dhe E, as well as Beta-karotene)
  • Ordinary moisturizers
  • Laser resurfacing (doctors can use lasers to stimulate the skin’s production of collagen)
  • Plastic Surgery (Face lifts, brow lifts and other cosmetic surgeries)
  • Ultrasound therapy
  • Injections (for example Botox)
  • Microdermabrasion

There are some reducing ways of wrinkles:

  • Be careful of sun exposing (you can use a hat and sunglasses)
  • Follow and eat a healthy diet
  • Reduce sugar intake
  • Stay hydrated
  • Lower alcohol consume
  • Exercises and doing yoga, meditation
  • Reduce stress
